Vladimir Putin: Today the ancient Ugra is a hospitable home for 124 nationalities

The president of Russia Vladimir Putin sent a welcome message to participants of the All-Russian Forum of the National Unity starting today, on October 8 in Khanty-Mansiysk.
It was read out during the ceremonial opening of the event by the deputy head of the administration of the head of state, the executive secretary of the council for international relations Magomedsalam Magomedov.
In his welcome address, Vladimir Putin noted that representatives of different peoples and ethnic groups had lived in Russia in peace throughout centuries. The relations of neighborliness and mutual respect, historical experience of cross-cultural and interreligious interaction is our pride and common value which need to be protected and maintained for future generations.
“I believe it’s very symbolical that the forum is held in the capital of Ugra. The Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District is by right considered one of the leading centers of domestic oil&gas and energy complex. For the development of perspective oil and gas deposits, construction of new cities and settlements, thousands of people arrived here from many regions of our huge country. They worked and lived in peace and friendship, built families. And today the ancient Ugra is a hospitable home for 124 nationalities,” noted the president.
Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that the current forum including conferences, round tables, thematic meetings, exhibitions, and discussion platforms would be successful, and its decisions would be demanded for the implementation of the state national policy.
The head of state wished the participants implementation of their plans and all the best.
The All-Russian Forum of National Unity will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk until October 10. More than 900 delegates from 41 subjects of the Russian Federation will participate in it.
