Ugra resident Maxim Khramtsov won the first Olympic gold in taekwondo in the Russia's history

Ugra resident Maxim Khramtsov won the gold medal at the 32nd Summer Olympic Games, which are being held these days in Tokyo, Japan.

The taekwondo athlete defended the honor of Russia in the weight category up to 80 kilograms.

In the final, he achieved a landslide victory over an athlete from Burkina Faso, Faisal Sawadogo. In the quarter-final,Ugra citizen defeated the representative of Croatia Tony Kanaeta with a score of 22: 0. In the semifinals, the athlete defeated the representative of Egypt Seif Esse with a score of 13: 1. In the finals Maxim Khramtsov met with an athlete from Jordan, Saleh Elsharabati. As a result, Ugra resident won with a score of 20: 9.

The day before, volleyball team of Russia, which includes the binder Igor Kobzar and the central blocker Artem Volvich, confidently beat the national team of Argentina with a score of 3: 1. The next match of the volleyball players of the Russian Olympic Committee will be held on July 28 against Brazil.

Women's water polo team, which includes the Ugra central striker Anna Timofeeva, won the match against water polo players from China with a score of 18:17. Russians also drew with the Hungarian team.

The champion of Russia, multiple medalist of the national championships Anastasia Guzhenkova will perform on July 28 in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay.

Thanks, among other things, to the sporting success of the Ugra residents, the Russian Olympic Committee team took the fourth position in the team medal standings. At the moment, the team has 12 medals, 4 of which are gold.
