Ugra plans to hold Days of Culture and exhibitions of folk art in the CIS countries with the participation of compatriots

Ugra holds the VI International conference "Development of educational, cultural and scientific ties with compatriots living abroad. Promoting preservation of the Russian spiritual and cultural environment."

Representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Rossotrudnichestvo, compatriots fr om 22 countries (Abkhazia, Austria, Armenia, Hungary, Germany, India, Spain, Italy, Jordan, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Moldova, Mongolia, Singapore, Syria, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Thailand, France, Czech Republic, Japan), as well as representatives of 16 regions of Russia take part in the event.

Welcoming the participants of the conference, the Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova drew attention to the fact that amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation adopted in 2020 enshrined in the basic law the provisions that Russia supports compatriots living abroad in the exercise of their rights, ensuring protection of their interests and preservation of the all-Russian cultural identity.

"All this takes our work to a new level. Our conference is one of the key projects to develop ties with the Russian community abroad, a platform for discussing topical issues of preserving the Russian language and culture, supporting foreign schools, exchanging best practices in working with compatriots, developing proposals for recommendations of the Council of Heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation under the Russian Foreign Ministry. In the future, the conference will be included in the list of events of the state program of support and promotion of the Russian language abroad being developed by the Russian Foreign Ministry," Natalia Komarova said.

One of the most popular projects in the contacts of Ugra with compatriots abroad was the project "North for the Victory", designed to unite veterans and youth in the implementation of patriotic initiatives. By the end of this year, an exhibition "Our Faces of Victory" is scheduled in a number of countries with the participation of compatriots.

Natalia Komarova said that Rossotrudnichestvo supported the initiative of Ugra to hold a series of events in the Autonomous Okrug under the "Hello, Russia!" program for the winners of contests, quizzes, Olympiads in the Russian language aged 14 to 19 years - talented compatriots fr om other countries.

Due to the fact that the Council of CIS Heads of State decided to hold the Year of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage in the CIS countries in 2022, Ugra plans to hold Days of Culture and exhibitions of Folk Art with the participation of compatriots, to introduce folk art and culture of the indigenous peoples of the North.

"For the sixth time, Ugra gathers people who, even being far beyond the borders of our country, firmly know that their homeland is Russia," Boris Khokhryakov, Chairman of the Ugra Duma, said in his speech. "They sincerely love Russia and respect its multifaceted culture."

"Ugra is a region of opportunities – we have something to offer fellow countrymen living abroad," Boris Khokhryakov continued. "Ugra has a rich and interesting history and extensive experience in preserving cultural heritage and national traditions, we are open to cooperation."

Metropolitan Pavel of Khanty-Mansiysk and Surgut shared his personal experience of communicating with compatriots during his ministry in Israel, Italy, and the USA, noting the importance of preserving their historical memory and ties with their historical homeland, Russian identity. "Orthodox churches are a place for our compatriots wh ere they receive spiritual support, find understanding and comfort here," the bishop said.

Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Ekaterinburg, Alexander Kharlov, read out a greeting from the leadership of the Department for Work with Compatriots Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wh ere the contribution of Ugra to the consolidation of the Russian world was highly appreciated. "Traditional international conference of compatriots has opened the way for Russia to more effective cooperation with our diasporas around the world," the Foreign Ministry said in its welcoming address.

The topics discussed at the conference venues are fundamental in the activities of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, as Sergey Shurygin, Deputy Executive Director of the foundation, said in his speech. "We place materials of conferences held in Ugra on our information resources, all this is in demand." Considering that many interesting projects are being implemented in Ugra in interaction with compatriots abroad, he invited Ugra residents to participate in the foundation's grant program.

Rector of the Russian Language State Institute named after A.S. Pushkin Margarita Rusetskaya stated that Ugra successfully cooperates with the Institute in a number of educational projects to promote the Russian language abroad: "A network of Russian schools of additional education has been created. Ugra is purposefully, systematically working to popularize the Russian language and support compatriots."

Conveying the greeting of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov to the participants of the conference, the head of the executive committee of the World Congress of Tatars Danis Shakirov noted that Tatarstan attaches great importance to the preservation and development of native languages and national culture of all peoples of our country. "I am confident that this conference will help the participants to strengthen the potential of cooperation," the letter of the Head of the Republic says. In conclusion, Danis Shakirov thanked Ugra residents for holding a federal sabantuy in Nizhnevartovsk last summer.

Anastasia Pavlova, member of the General Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Eurasia, Head of the Tourism Committee of the Business Center for Economic Development of the CIS countries, recalled that Ugra became the first participant of the CIS+World project. "The culture and traditions of Ugra are the treasure of Russia," she said.

On the same day, a plenary discussion "The role of compatriots in achieving the national goals of the Russian Federation" took place, which was attended by the heads of Russian houses in Rome (Italy) Daria Pushkova, in Singapore Alexander Solovyov, in Chennai (India) Gennady Rogalev, in Bratislava (Slovakia) Elena Epishina, in Bishkek Viktor Nefedov, Chairperson of the coordinating council of Russian compatriots in Mongolia Tatiana Shorvaeva.

Thus, representatives of the Russian House in Bishkek told about an agreement with Ugra artists to hold a plein air on Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan in the summer of 2022, which will be a continuation of the international art plein air, which has been held in Ugra for several years.
