Ugra is preparing for the Spirit of Fire Festival

Yuri Yuzhakov, Deputy Governor of Ugra, chaired the meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation of the International Film Debut Festival “Spirit of Fire.”
“The festival is becoming more and more large-scale, involving more and more people in the world of film debut. And since 2018, it has been broadcasting its individual events online,” he said in advance of the event. “In the year of the 90th anniversary of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug the main event of the “Spirit of Fire” will be the International Forum of Children’s and Youth Cinema “Let there always be....” It is necessary to take this into account, to ensure the required level of event organization.
Yuri Yuzhakov paid special attention to the fact that information support of the festival should be provided through all channels, including social networks.
Sergey Soloviev, the President of the Film Festival, said that the Children’s and Youth Film Forum “Let there always be...” was a fresh decision in the program “Spirit of Fire”, which will allow to extend its frontiers and increase its popularity.
At present, the models of cultural and stage space design have already been developed in the Ugra-Classic Concert and Theatre Centre of Khanty-Mansiysk, as well as the updated banner of the event.
“In the transformer hall, students and young actors will put on a wonderful performance of “Bertholt’s Cabaret,” Sergey Soloviev said. “We are in negotiations with film providers to bring to Ugra the most famous and the most high-grossing foreign and domestic children’s and youth films in Russia.”
The vice-president of the festival Mariya Zvereva said that the negotiations with the candidates for the international jury of the “Spirit of Fire” are also underway. The Russian jury will be made up of recently gained popularity directors, debutants who won at recent festivals. In particular, negotiations are under way with Cantemir Balagov, who shot the film “Dylda” in 2019. For this film, the director was awarded the Palme d'Or of the Festival de Cannes. In addition, the list of potential members of the Russian jury includes directors Nataliya Meshchaninova, Klim Shipenko and others.
Among the innovations of the “Spirit of Fire”, Mariya Zvereva voiced the idea of the festival’s organizers to unite charity organizations working with children at the festival venue. Thus, negotiations are currently underway with the foundations “I am not Alone” for children without parental care, “Sunflower”, which provides assistance to children with primary immunodeficiency and autoimmune diseases. “We plan that the representatives of these foundations will hold educational master classes for children and youth,” she said. “In 2020, Russia will host SCO and BRICS summits. In this regard, we are negotiating with the members of the alliances so that they send their directors to us with a block of short films for inclusion in the program of children’s cinema.”
Alice Grebenshikova’s children’s one-man shows are expected to be staged in Khanty-Mansiysk as part of the Spirit of Fire Festival.
We recall that the 18th International Film Debut Festival “Spirit of Fire” will be held in Ugra on March 5-9, 2020. The organizers focus on promoting family values and strengthening the institution of the family.
The festival program includes theatrical and creative workshops, “Cinema for All” action, “Think about the Future Today” photo and microfilm contest, festival night, master classes, family day, presentation of performances and many other events. In addition, in the Ugra-Classic Concert and Theatre Centre will be deployed zone of interactive VR-cinema, there will be a presentation of a large international festival of cartoons, there will be the Stream-Cinema platform, and I am not Alone creative laboratory.
