Ugra acts as the organizer of the international conference in Paris

On December 4, the Ugra delegation headed by the Governor Natalia Komarova will be on a working visit to Paris.
The central event will be the International Conference "Language Technologies for All (LT4All): Enabling Linguistic Diversity and Multilingualism Worldwide" in UNESCO Headquarters. It was organized by the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug together with the Russian Committee of UNESCO Program "Information for All" and the Interregional Center for Library Cooperation in partnership with UNESCO Secretariat and the European Language Resources Association (ELRA). The idea of holding the conference was supported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Chairman of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, Sergey Lavrov.
The forum, which will examine the evolution of the conditions of linguistic diversity and multilingualism, will be attended by more than 400 people - public figures, politicians, diplomats, language technology researchers, ethnolinguists, sociolinguists, ethnopolitologists, ethnosociologists, cultural anthropologists, philosophers, experts in the field of formation and analysis national and international language policy, representatives of the IT industry, educational, scientific, cultural, communication and information institutions.
The Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra Natalia Komarova will give a welcoming speech for the participants. She will share the experience of our region in preserving and developing the languages of the indigenous peoples of the North, and will talk about language technologies and IT nomad camps.
The Ugra Exhibition “Indigenous Minorities of the North. Languages. Technology" will be opened in UNESCO Headquarters. The district masters of the Torum Maa ethnographic open-air museum and the creative team of the Ob-Ugric peoples theater “The Sun” will hold master classes for the participants. The winner of the Grand Prix of All-Russian and international art festivals Vera Kondratieva will perform music and dance turns.
On the sidelines of the conference, the presentation of the “Electronic Depository for the Folklore of the Ob Ugrians and Samoyeds” created in 2013 by the Ob-Ugric Institute for Applied Research and Development will be held. It is designed to help preserve and revive the language and folklore of the indigenous peoples of Ugra: Khanty, Mansi, Nenets. The collection contains 3,700 hours of audio recordings of songs, fairy tales, tall stories, myths, religious faiths, holidays and customs in the native languages of the Ob Ugrians and Samoyeds.
During the trip to the French capital, Natalia Komarova also plans a number of working meetings: with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the French Republic, Alexey Meshkov; with the management of the Federation of Entrepreneurs in France (MEDEF); with the sales representative of the Russian Federation in the French Republic, Mikhail Makarov; with the Head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Paris Konstantin Volkov and compatriots living in Paris.
The program also includes the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and the French Institute of Renewable Energy.
As a reminder, a decision on this was made at the meeting of the Ugra Government on November 15. “The areas of cooperation between the parties include development and implementation of joint scientific programs and projects in the field of enhanced oil recovery in fields; development and implementation of joint educational projects and programs in the oil and gas sector, including projects for the development of international educational standards and certification standards for oil and gas specialists; conducting and participating in activities aimed at improving the efficiency in this industry,” the Governor said then.
It should be noted that the French Institute of Renewable Energy is one of the largest world scientific and educational centers, it has unique technological developments that can solve the problems of optimizing geological exploration, increasing the oil recovery rate, and environmental problems.
