Department of Public and External Relations of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra informs:
The 19th International Festival of Cinematic Debuts "Spirit of Fire" has been postponed to 2022 – it will be held on February 22-28.
This decision was made at a meeting of the organizing committee for preparation and holding of the event, which was chaired by the Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova. At the same time, two festivals will take place at once – the 19th and 20th "Spirit of Fire".
"The work on the 19th Festival has been completed, including participants of scenario project competition from the Arctic Council countries. This is a new creative field in the Festival program. More than 30 applications were received, " Natalia Komarova said.
Vice-President of the Festival Maria Zvereva stressed that the program of the 19th Festival has been fully formed. However, according to her, not all participants would be able to come to Russia because of the epidemiological situation in the world. "Having held two festivals at once in February 2022, we will present two different programs. According to the same scenario, the presentation of the national film award "Nika" took place in Moscow the day before. In addition, the events will bring together more guests, more films, " the Vice-President of the Festival added.
It is planned that an additional selection of films of the 19th "Spirit of Fire" will be held from September 1 to October 15, and the 20th Festival-from October 1 to December 30.
"This is the most successful scenario, a convenient format for holding the event," Yuri Yuzhakov, Deputy Governor of Ugra, said.
During the meeting Maria Zvereva emphasized that the 74th Cannes International Film Festival ended in France the day before. The winner of the Grand Prix of the author's film contest "Un certain regard" was the director and screenwriter Kira Kovalenko with her film "Unclenching the fists". In Khanty-Mansiysk, at the Spirit of Fire Festival, she made her debut as a director in 2017, presenting her drama "Sofichka". Then Kira Kovalenko was awarded a special prize "For the preservation of cultural traditions".
"This shows that the quality of our programs is growing. And this is confirmed by the fact that the debutants of the "Spirit of Fire" become the winners and the brightest participants of the main film festival in the world, "Maria Zvereva said.
Earlier, it was planned that the 19th international festival of cinematic debuts "Spirit of Fire" will be held on August 19-24.
