Department of Public and External Relations of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra informs:

Yesterday, the Impulse of Good Prize award ceremony was held in Moscow. The annual prize has been established by the Foundation "Our Future". Governor of Ugra Natalya Komarova traditionally took part in the event and this year she presented the award to the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Resource Saving Company, which won the special nomination "For the First Issue of Green Bonds in Russia".

In 2018, the company placed the first Russian "green bonds" in the amount of 1.1 billion roubles on the Moscow Exchange. The initiative fell into the category of projects on environmentally efficient waste management, use of production technologies and processes aimed at reducing the harmful impact on the environment. By 2023, the company envisages increasing the share of waste recycling to 30 percent, reducing the share of landfill to 60 percent, and lowering the level of greenhouse gas emissions.

Governor Natalya Komarova handed over the award to Denis Yanev, Director General of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Resource Saving Company. "Green eco-investment is one of the most dynamically growing sectors in international financial markets. Our company’s issue of "green bonds", the first one in Russia, is aimed at implementing a socially significant project on the environmentally friendly disposal of municipal waste. This is the "foundation stone" in the emerging national green financing system,” D. Yanev stated.

"The company has proved itself to be socially oriented and caring about the future. And I am very pleased that this has been rewarded today as part of the contest,” Natalya Komarova said.

Among all the regions of Russia, which participated in the contest in 2019, Ugra is the leader in terms of submitted applications. "This is a tribute to the contest itself, which enjoys an appropriate level of trust. On the other hand, it is obvious that since such an increase in the number of applications has been recorded, it means the services provided by social entrepreneurs are sought-after. I thank the Foundation "Our Future" for the work completed, which we fully support. In 2020, I invite the contestants to Ugra, where they will take part in a meeting of social entrepreneurs of the Ural Federal District," Governor Natalya Komarova emphasized.

At the ceremony, Vagit Alekperov, founder of the Foundation and President of Lukoil Oil Company, stressed that the Impulse of Good award has been growing and developing in line with the needs of society. So, in 2019, a new nomination, "Best Startup in the Field of Social Entrepreneurship” was added. "We were surprised that in the very first year since its establishment, nearly 30 percent of the total number of contestants applied for the participation in this nomination. This year, a total of 332 applications from 60 regions were sent to participate in the contest. Last year, there were 258 of them. This indicates an increase in the number of participants by almost a third annually," Vagit Alekperov disclosed.

Mr Alekperov noted that the largest number of applications, namely 54 had been sent from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and the Moscow Region were also highly active. "But Yugra has traditionally been the most dynamic, as our first experiment was conducted in the Ugra territory," he stated.

"We have endeavoured to provide a legislative basis for practising social entrepreneurship in Russia. And the activities of the Foundation "Our Future" led to the adoption of the law in our country, which established the concept of "social entrepreneurship", meaning a business aimed at improving everyone's life. The Foundation "Our Future" will strengthen its work and increase its participation in each Russian region,” Mr Alekperov particularly emphasized.

"I attach great importance to the activities Lukoil Company and the Foundation "Our Future" are engaged in. The participants of this contest are shaping the vector of our country's humanitarian development," Natalya Komarova declared.

Participants and organizers of the Impulse of Good Prize received a welcoming address from Russian President Vladimir Putin. The speech was read out by Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government.

"Over the past time, the noble goals of this project have brought together a large, tightly-welded team of energetic and caring people, and it has greatly contributed to the promotion of social entrepreneurship in our country. Each year, this renowned prize is awarded to those who put their ideas into practice, embody them in real undertakings and strive to change life for the better. Its laureates take care of children and the older generation, they revive folk crafts and industries, and carry out other equally important initiatives. I am sure that the law on social entrepreneurship adopted this year will help increase the efficiency of this work and successfully solve pressing problems of the social sphere,” the Head of State noted.

Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets added on her behalf that commitment to the cause of social entrepreneurship is a great work. She wished success to each of the participants.
