Khanty-Mansiysk and Moscow will host the 2020 World Chess Olympiad

Department of Public and External Relations of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra informs:
The Russian Chess Federation (RCF) and FIDE have decided to hold the World Chess Olympiad (WCO) in 2020 in two cities - Khanty-Mansiysk and Moscow. This is reported on the RCF website.
In addition, the first paralympic event in the history of this sport will be held within the framework of the WCO, which will be hosted by the Okrug’s capital on July 30 - August 4.
Members of the International Chess Federation are the International Braille Chess Association (IBCA), the International Chess Committee of the Deaf (ICCD) and the International Physically Disabled Chess Association (IPCA). All these organizations will be represented in the first Paralympic Chess Competition.
On 29 July 2020, the opening ceremony of the World Chess Olympiad, as well as the FIDE Congress and General Assembly will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk.
During the Olympiad, the Okrug’s capital will host a number of additional events: grandmasters and masters’ games of multiboard chess, rapid chess and blitz tournaments for children and adults, lectures, master classes and much more.
