On March 24, Ugra residents gave a rousing welcome to the domestic sports delegation, which had a flight from Moscow.

Athletes of the Russian national team in five kinds of sports were welcomed by volunteers and young women in the national khantyisky clothing, each of whom held a traditional Ugra treat – cedar nuts.

It is already late evening in Ugra and we didn’t expect such a warm welcome, - said one of the youngest athletes of the Russian national team in snowboard Nikita Komissarov. – I have once been to Khanty-Mansiysk before and today I got an impression as if came home.

Andrey Vasilevsky, Chief Coach of the Russian National Hockey Team: Our guys performed a very serious training in the run up to the Games. All the athletes come to Khanty-Mansiysk in a good mood and will start training in the nearest time. We will find out who is going to be the first opponent of our hockey players on March 28, when the team's draw takes place.

Russian delegation is the most representative at the current Games. It comprises more than 150 people, and half of them are athletes.

Guys are a little bit tired, just before official farewell ceremony took place in Moscow on Poklonnaya Gora. Everybody wished victory to our athletes. In turn, we thanked those, who took part in preparation to the Games. Huge work has been performed by the Ugra Governor Natalia Komarova and her team, - President of the Russian Deaflympics Committee Alexandr Romantsov noted. – I would like to thank the organizers for such a warm reception. I am very glad, that we are welcomed by songs and dancing. The atmosphere at the airport is super!

To recap, 344 athletes from 27 countries of the world will take part in the Deaflympic Games. Delegates from 13 countries: Croatia, Norway, Slovakia, USA, Ukraine, Finland, Italy, Poland, Armenia, Slovenia, Korea, Japan, and Russia arrived to Khanty-Mansiysk. Today in the evening and at night national teams of the Czech Republic, Turkey and Canada will come.

During 9 competition days, the best athletes in five disciplines will be determined.
